On Sunday 24th March 2019, Olney Under 14s completed the Cup Double beating Ampthill 42-5 in the final of the East Midlands Rugby Union Cup.
Earlier in the season after many years of getting to the final, the team at last won the Northampton Saints under 14s competition beating ONs 7-0.
The Under 14s have played some outstanding rugby this season and in particular, in both of these competitions. They have often blown teams away in the first half with their intensity and work rate especially off the ball. They have scored some wonderful team tries but their attack is built off a very solid defensive foundation. They only conceded 3 tries in 5 rounds of the East Midlands Cup and yet scored over 40 points a game on average. In the Northampton Saints tournament they conceded only 1 try in 4 rounds.
Head Coach Andrew Osborne said “I am incredibly proud of what the team has achieved this year. They are a great bunch of very talented lads who work hard and really play for each other. They thoroughly deserve all the applause they get.”
