...whoever you are

Running The Club depends heavily on the hard work and commitment of volunteers. From coaching, refereeing, maintaining the facilities, organizing events and managing the finances, their contributions are crucial.

These individuals give their time and effort to ensure the smooth operation of the club and create a supportive environment for players and members. Their work extends beyond match days, with much of it happening behind the scenes.

Volunteers are essential to the club's functioning, and their efforts make a significant difference both on and off the field. We sincerely thank all our volunteers for their ongoing support and dedication. Without them, the club would not be able to run as effectively as it does.

So here is some recognition and thanks to a few of the many...

Clubman of the year 2024: Lee Allen
Lee has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to remediate certain clubhouse facilities issues and has also found the time to make some electrical improvement works (which now means the electricity doesn’t trip!). In the off-season he continued to help ensure our facility development programme was on track. Most club members will not even be aware of the work that he has done, often when the club is closed and no one else is around - A most worthy winner of clubman of the year!

Notable nominations were Ruth Bowles and Chris Denoven. Ruth purchases and organises all the food for the M&J section – She was instrumental in a massive fundraising effort for her son’s age group Tour. Chris is a major asset to the club – as 3rd team captain, he managed to ensure a team played every match. He was a junior grade coach for 10 years and moved on to taking the mantle of head coach for the Colts. Behind the scenes he assists with pitch maintenance and oversaw pitch allocations for training and M&Js matches.

Club Blazer: Garry Anderson
Garry received his blazer for continuous service as Head coach of M&J section for 10 years – seeing his age group to a multitude of Cup and League wins in this time. Testament to this success is the number of players who have continued their rugby journey into the Colts section. Thank You!

Club Honours Ties Non-playing:
Nominated non-playing members may be awarded an honours tie or scarf for 5 years valued volunteering service to the club or the game.

In the case of the first recipients of this new honour, it was certainly more than 5 years...on the occasion of them stepping down from Club Committees Honours ties were awarded to:

Martin ‘Harry’ Harris (Social Club), Dean Henrickson (Treasurer) and Ross Knapper (Safeguarding Officer)

This was followed up with various presentations at end of season celebrations as well as at the recent M&J sponsored game and we will continue to recognise the many more volunteers at events during the season.

Additionally, we have seen the recent awarding of Playing Ties:
Three of our Ladies team recently received their Club ties - congratulations to Beth Gabriel, Eva short and Emily Dunn .

Whilst Felix Iles and Joe Baker both received their 1st XV ties.

Thanks and Congratulations to all.
